What We Believe

The Scriptures
We believe the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired, inerrant Word of God. Written by men carried along by the Holy Spirit, Scripture is our final and sufficient authority for all of life and godliness (2 Tim. 3:16–17; 2 Pet. 1:21).

The Triune God
We worship the one living and true God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—three coequal and coeternal Persons, united in essence, equal in glory, and working in perfect harmony in creation and redemption (Matt. 28:19).

God the Father
The Father created all things for His glory through His Son and upholds all things by His sovereign power. He rules over creation, providence, and redemption (Ps. 24:1-2; Rev. 4:11).

God the Son
Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, took on human flesh, was born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, and died as the substitutionary sacrifice for sinners. He rose bodily from the grave, ascended into heaven, and reigns as Head of the Church and Mediator between God and man. He will return in glory to consummate His kingdom and judge the living and the dead (Eph. 1:21-22).

God the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit glorifies Christ in all He does. He convicts the world of sin, regenerates dead hearts, and brings sinners to repentance and faith through the Word of God. He indwells every believer, sealing them for the day of redemption, sanctifying them in holiness, and equipping them with gifts for service in the Church and mission to the world (John 16:8; Eph. 1:13–14; Titus 3:5).

Humanity
God created mankind—male and female—in His image for His glory and fellowship. Through Adam’s sin, humanity fell into corruption, leaving all people guilty, enslaved to sin, and spiritually dead. Apart from Christ, we are under God’s righteous wrath and without hope (Gen. 3; Rom. 3:10–19; Eph. 2:1–3).

Salvation
We believe that while we were dead in our trespasses, God—rich in mercy—made us alive together with Christ. Salvation is a gift of His grace, accomplished by the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and applied to the believer by the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit. Through the Spirit’s power, sinners are brought to repentance and faith, justified by Christ’s righteousness, adopted as children of God, and set apart for holy living. This salvation is received through faith alone, apart from works, so that no one may boast (Eph. 2:4–10; Rom. 5:1). Genuine faith endures in obedience, love, and perseverance until the end.

Marriage, Sexuality, and Gender
We believe God created men and women equal in dignity and worth, yet distinct and complementary in role and function. Marriage is a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, ordained for companionship, purity, and the raising of children. In the home, husbands are called to lovingly lead as Christ loves the Church, and wives are called to gladly submit as the Church submits to Christ. In the Church, women and men serve in vital and honourable roles, yet the office of elder/pastor is reserved for qualified men, in accordance with God’s design (Gen. 1:27; Eph. 5:22–33; 1 Tim. 3:1–7).

The Church
All who repent and believe in Christ are united to Him and to one another as members of His Body, the Church, of which He is the Head. Believers are commanded to gather in local churches for the preaching of God’s Word, prayer, fellowship, the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper, and mutual edification. Each local church is to be shepherded by a watchful plurality of godly, qualified men, called elders, who equip the saints for ministry and guard the flock (Acts 2:42; Eph. 4:11–16; 1 Pet. 5:1–3).

Baptism and Communion
Baptism is the believer’s public testimony of union with Christ, symbolising His death, burial, and resurrection. The Lord’s Supper is the ongoing remembrance of Christ’s sacrifice, a proclamation of His death until He comes, to be observed with reverence and self-examination (Rom. 6:3–4; 1 Cor. 11:23–26).

Missions
We believe every believer and local church is called to participate in the Great Commission. Our priority is the planting, strengthening, and multiplying of Christ-centred, Bible-preaching churches that make disciples and plant new churches for the glory of God and the joy of all peoples (Matt. 28:18–20).

Things to Come
We eagerly await the personal and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ. At His coming, the dead will be raised: the redeemed to eternal life in the presence of God, and the unrepentant to eternal judgment in hell. Christ will establish the new heavens and new earth, where His people will dwell with Him forever in perfect joy (1 Thess. 4:16–17; Rev. 21:1–4).
